assimilate radar radial winds with vertical velocity as a control variable

Hi, 

I have reading several papers about using GSI to assimilate the radar radial velocity with the vertical velocity "w". But even when I check the latest version of GSI, I didn't see the "w" as the control variable. 

Are there some functionalities to do this?
