WRF for Hurricanes Overview

The WRF model is a highly configurable system with two dynamic cores, multiple physics options, a variational data assimilation system, the ability to couple with an ocean model, and a software architecture allowing for computational parallelism and system extensibility. The NOAA operational model Hurricane WRF (HWRF) and the NCAR Advanced Research Hurricane WRF (AHW) are two robust configurations of WRF that are applicable for hurricane research and numerical weather prediction.
